The
Central Cities Gifted Children’s Association is an
organization created in 1985 by concerned parents,
teachers, and community members for the purpose of
addressing the specific needs of gifted and talented (GATE)
children of the Central Cities. The association services
the needs of Gifted Students in the greater Los Angeles
County area and beyond. The Central Cities Gifted
Children's Association is a member of the California
Association for the Gifted and the National Association for
the Gifted.
Central Cities Gifted Children's Association's
Primary Objectives Include: To
serve as a public advocate concerning the special
needs of the gifted and talented child of the Central
Cities.
To
disseminate information to school personnel, parents,
and public officials concerning the nature and
education of gifted and talented children in the
Central Cities through newsletters, meetings,
electronic media and conferences.
To
assist gifted and talented students from the Central
Cities with fiancial support for summer program
tuition that will help these students reach their
individual goals and achieve their highest potential
in education.
To
recognize outstanding educators who are teaching in
the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Program in
the Central Cities by providing them with Central
Cities Gifted Children's Association Gifted Teacher
Fellowships.
